Goodbye 2011.....

Well, today is the last day of 2011.  2012 is less than 24 hours away.  2011 was an odd year for me...a lot of hopes fell to the wayside and I'm still not 100 percent certain where I'm going or what I want out of life.  Luckily, I think I made have found something/someone to build a future with.  That is indeed a positive to come out of this year, thats for sure.

Bring on 2012!  The last year of the world!  hahahaha NOT.

What in the world.....?

This caught my eye.  Why?  Look at the Circle.  This game was 53-19 AT THE HALF.  College Basketball games like these are pathetic games that should never be scheduled.  Or at least not have it played in Carolina.  Silly, and dumb.

My Two (Pokemon) wishes

I only have two wishes of left of Nintendo/Japan.

Wish 1

Please, please Remake Pokemon Red/Blue for DS or 3DS format.  Just a straight updated port.  Only graphical improvements, not all the new Pokemon and all that stuff.  Just give me the straight game (with Mew included) to make it all original 151.  You can even take out the x99 item glitch if you want.  Just leave everything else the same with updated graphics and WiFi trading please.

Yes, I know they remade them as LeafGreen and FireRed (really strange names, btw) and I own FireRed.  It is a GBA title though.  Why not remake it for DS with all the upgraded features this hand-held supports?  Seems like Nintendo would be able to essentially PRINT money with this title.  Heck, I'd even BUY a 3DS if they made it exclusive for that platform.  As long as it was an updated port of the original with only the original 151 in it.  That would be amazing.

Wish 2

This wish is a little more far fetched and will probably NEVER occur.  But here goes....

I wish they'd remake the Pokemon animated TV show....but instead of from Ash's point of view it was from Gary's.  He was THE MAN in that show.  Got all the ladies, had all the sweet pokemon...plus, he understood what Weaknesses and Resistances were.  I doubt he'd try to use a Pikachu to Fight an Onyx.....(LOOKIN' AT YOU ASH, YA BIG DUMMY).  Plus, his fights with Gym leaders would probably be epic duels not stupidness like Ash had such as Lucking out into hitting a sprinkler system or helping a gym leader do some task they could of done better themselves (such as stop jesse and james, seriously, they were IDIOTS).  Ash never EARNED his badges.....he always lucked into it.  The Gary show would be so much awesomer.

"Pokemon: Gary is the Best" should be the title of the show.  Most epic show ever.  I might have to make a comic of it.......

Dallas: The Hedgehog (lover)?

I was just perusing the "daily deals" section of Xbox Live.  They have a Deal on Sonic today.  I was like "Cool! Maybe they discounted Sonic CD for Christmas!"  Nope, just all the OTHER Sonic games released on Live (except for Sonic And Kunckles).  What did I discover through this?

That I OWN every Sonic game released on Xbox Live ever, with the exception of Sonic CD which I plan on buying soon anyways.  Ugh, I LOVE the old Sonic games and despise what has happened to the Blue Speedster.  I have almost every issue of the old Sonic comics from 1-100.  : /  I really miss good ol' 90s sometimes.....

FYI I have 3 copies of Sonic Adventure.  Gamecube, Dreamcast, and Xbox Live Arcade copy.  Yes, I win SO HARD.

Best Sonic Comic Ever.

MOVIE NIGHT IN AMERICA

So, tonight Dallas Masterpiece Theater brought me National Treasure.  This stars the single most greatest actor of all time (and possible Vampire from the Civil War) Nicolas Cage!

On to the movie.  It was quite enjoyable, and kept going back and forth!  I love the idea that Nic Cage is some super sleuth that can figure complex mysteries out.  Tooootaaaallllllllly Legit.  Its still a pretty fun romp through historical sites with faux history conspiracies.  I heard the second one isn't as good...but I shall still give it a viewing with my eyeballs!

I give Nicolas Cage (the TRUE National Treasure of this country) 4 Flaming Skulls out of 5 Flaming Skulls.

P.S.  Why isn't there a buddy action movie starring Cage and RDJ?  Can you say Epic?   I can.  EPIC.

Movie Night in America!

I just finished watching Limitless.  That movie was fantastic.  If you get a chance you should check it out.  I love movies that are more about psychological things than actual action.

I give it 4.5 out of 5 Dallas Stars of Justice.

Shopping time with Dallas!

Tomorrow is going to be AMAZING.  I'm gonna go shopping for 2 specific items for my mom for Christmas.  I'm heading out to Sears to try to find a cat necklace she liked.  Hope I can remember which one it is.  Then I'm headed out to Target to look for John Adams.  Its some 7 part mini-series I've never heard of.  I'm sure its going to end up being some amazing adventure before its all over.

First Annual State of the Dallas-Man Sports Teams

So, here we are.  I've wanted to do this many times before but never got around to it.  A good friend of mine just recently started up her like 80 billionth blog and is posting regularly so, its sorta got me in the Writin' Mood!

First up we shall explore the Washington Redskins.

The 2011 Campaign started out with such promise.  A 3-1 start had all Skins' fans, myself included, excited.  Then the Injuries and bad Rex showed up and they lost 6 straight.  They managed to beat Seattle on the road and then lost last week to the Jets.  They played with the Jets pretty well until the 4th quarter.  They now sit at an awesome 4-8 mark.  Next up are the Patriots and they just lost their best Offensive lineman and Best receiver in Trent Williams and Fred Davis, respectfully.  They were suspended for "failing a drug test".  Awesome, way to go guys!  All thats left to look forward to is the Draft.  I want them to get a young QB and and young safety and would love a Wide-out.  We'll see what happens when draft time comes around.  This team is trending down very quickly.

Bright spot of this season?  Ryan Kerrigan and Perry Riley emerging as very good players on Defense and Roy Helu played very well in the Jets game.  I think Hankerson was about to emerge as a very large weapon before he went down for the season with an injury in the Miami game.

Biggest disappointment?  If D-Hall knew how to cover Dez Bryant at ALL the Skins would have 2 more wins and be leading the Division right now.  Oh Well.

Pittsburgh Penguins

As of right now they sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 1 point lead over the Boston Bruins (who they lost to 3-1 in their last contest).  The Penguins have not really started clicking yet and have been pretty erratic in their defense play.  Paul Martin has struggled pretty mightily as of late and the absence of Letang has been felt.  Crosby has returned, welcome news to any fan of the NHL whether you like the Pens or not, and was knocked around some in the loss to Boston (including a mid ice collision with Kunitz, in which he returned to the ice during the game).  They have decided to sit him for the next 2 games, just as a precautionary measure according the everyone involved, which has struck a bit of fear in me too.  After missing him for 10 months any time hes out of the line-up it makes me worry.  Word is he went full speed in practice Wednesday and after the practice told reporters he "felt perfectly fine".  So I guess we'll find out in the next few days.  If Crosby comes back fine and Letang can get healthy and the Defense tightens up...this team will become scary, scary good.  Their offense has been rather inconsistent so far in Crosby's return but once his timing and such is back and the D gets goin' this team is going to go on a tear I believe.  I hope it leads them to another Cup.

Next up:  A Thursday night showdown in Philly with the Flyers.  Then head to play the Islanders on Saturday night.

Los Angeles Lakers

Well, the Lockout is all but officially over.  The Lakers are coming off a disappointing finish to last season.  Coming off of Back-to-Back titles the Lakers got swept by the eventual Champion Dallas Mavericks.  So, how do the Lakers improve?  Well, they want to make a trade.  Two trades that is.  Who?  No one other than Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.  Sort of sounds like a Video game doesn't it?  Sources say no one on the Roster other than Kobe is untouchable.  This would be on HELL of a blockbuster trade and instantly make them the best team in the West, In my opinion.  I've always known they were going to target Howard.  Chris Paul on the other hand I always figured was destined to join Melo and Amare with the Knicks.  If LA manages to acquire Paul and Howard sources close to both of them say they would sign extensions with the Lakers.  Right then and there you have the successor for Kobe when he calls it a career.  Plus, it helps trying to make sure Kobe gets one if not TWO more Championships since he honestly has maybe 2-3 More good years in him.  I doubt they'll manage to trade for both...but wouldn't be shocked if they got at least one of the two.  My guess?  Dwight goes to L.A.

One can only dream.....

Minnesota Twins

Yuck.  Last baseball season left a bad taste in my mouth.  Off a SUPER COMPETITIVE 63-99 mark on the 2011 campaign, only Houston finished worse, I wonder on how the Twins plan to try and improve.  First thing they did?  Fire Bill Smith and bring back Terry Ryan.  They have signed Jamey Carroll and Ryan Doumit.  Carroll will more than likely help to stabilize Shortstop and Doumit can play Catcher, First and Outfield.  They are said to be going hard after Cuddyer and have offered him a 3 year deal.  Which more than likely means Kubel is gone (sad face...I like Kubel).  Joe Nathan has left for Texas, so they have resigned Matt Capps, who was beyond TERRIBLE last year but claims to have been hurt for most of the year.  Guess we shall all see.

Two ways the Twins can instantly get better for next season?  Stay Healthy and GET A FRIGGIN' BULLPEN.  Minnesota's Pen was dreadful last year.  Everytime they had a lead....bullpen time is here to save the day!  By save, I mean, give up 7 runs.  Yay!  Getting Morneau and Mauer back to 100% would also help them out.  Now that the Twins have Doumit they can actually have a catcher backing up Mauer that can hit.

If Morneau, who is open to playing more DH, can stay healthy for the duration of the Season and Mauer returns to his .300 batting average and Ryan gets some Bullpen help and maybe one starter this team could be poised to go from worst to first.  Thats a lot of things that have to go right, but last year was just a historically bad year.  I feel this year they will rebound.

We shall see......Till the next state of the franchise......

One thing I don't understand....

So, here it is Virginia Tech beat the crap out of UVA last week 38-0.  Yes, thats correct.  38 points to ZERO points.  Tech had 4 turnovers to UVA's zero turnovers.  Tech thoroughly thrashed uva.  Yet, one week later Tech loses to Clemson in the ACC title game.  Which has already won 3 ACC titles in 5 Championship game attempts and also won the ACC in their first year in the ACC and they've only been in the ACC since 2004.  Yet, they lose one week after stomping Uva and what happens?  All the Uva fans decide its a great time to trash Tech and make fun of them?  Really?  I mean come on guys...you just lost HORRIBLY to Tech and yet you want to talk trash?  Pathetic.  Yea, Tech has a habit of losing big games.  But you know what?  I'd take having the chance to get to a "Big" game than not ever making it any time in recent memory.  Eventually if you keep going to the games you will win one.  One more thing to keep in mind?  Logan Thomas.  This was his first season as a QB.  Hes going to get even better next year.

Virginia Tech leads the all time series with University of Virginia 51-37-5.

Why Max Prestige?

I've always wondered why in the COD games they never add extra levels of Prestige.  How hard could that be?  All they'd have to do is load one extra symbol for all 50-60 levels you have to go to be eligible for the Prestige.  This has never affected me of course.  I rarely manage to get to a 3rd Prestige (trying to get to the 3rd on Black Ops), but still...why can't they add extra levels in updates?  It would suck to get the the last level and not be able to go any higher.  Then again, I'm a sucker for games that let you level up infinitely.  I'm lookin' at YOU Disgaea.

Wrong

So, already my predictions for how the baseball playoffs would go is wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.  I thought for sure Tampa would be able to get past Texas.  Nope.  Nada.  Fail.  I could still get the final match-up correct with my Picks of Detroit-Philly.

Detroit is making me worried though.  They had a chance to shut it out in MoTown in game 4.  All they had to do was beat Aj Burnett.  Sounds like a gimmie, right?  Of course he has a really good game and the Tigers were not able to finish it off.  So, we have a game 5 match-up tomorrow night of Fister-Nova.  This worries me.  Why?  Fister has never really been a big strike-out guy.  Hes more of an off speed guy that can get strike-outs from time to time.  He averages giving up 8.9 hits per 9 innings in his career but on 8 hits per inning this season.  Why does this scare me?  Well, against a team like the Yankees who like to work the count a guy like Fister could struggle big time.  If hes a guy that pitches to contact, thats scary.  New York feasts on those type of pitchers.  Believe me, I know.  Seeing my Twins pitchers struggle year in and year out against them.  It takes a strike-out guy to beat them, especially in a deciding do-or-die game such as this.  I hope Fister proves me wrong and pitches a gem and beats the Yanks.  On paper this looks like a Yankee win at home in the Bronx.  However, There is a reason they play the games and champions are not decided on paper.  Boston knows that all too well.

I'm a little surprised they are not considering pitching Verlander in game 5 and plan to go with Ordonez in right field.  Austin Jackson is a good defender, but Ordonez is slow and Young is decent but sometimes just looks lost in the outfield.  I'm really worried for my pick now.....

Oh well, Time to continue watching the Philly-Cards match-up.

NL Postseason Picks

Arizona Diamondbacks Vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers Have Power up and down their lineup with Fielder and Braun leading the charge.  The acquisitions of Marcum and Grienke have been huge for this team's rotation.  They will have to try to slow down the Diamondbacks on the base paths and the Brewers need to find a way to get their extra base power going on the road.  The Brewers look like the better team in every aspect.  Therefore, I see the Diamondbacks getting past the Brew Crew.  Gut feeling is all.

St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Cardinals have been on of the hottest teams down the stretch surpassing the Braves to claim the wild card spot.  The Phillies set a franchise record with 102 wins anchored by their impressive Starting Rotation.  The Cards can RAKE.  Their bullpen is one of the worst bullpen ERA's in the postseason.  I really see Philly getting to that pen and shutting down the Cards hitting with their own starters.  I just don't see Philly losing to the Cards, not this year.  I'd love to see the Cards play the Rays in the World Series though, as a side note (A combined 17 games back on September 1st).  Therefore, I see the Phillies advancing to the NLCS.

Arizona Diamondbacks Vs. Philadelphia Phillies

A scrappy team in the D-Backs versus a powerful team in the Phillies?  I just don't see the Phillies losing this series.  Their Rotation and Pen will shut down the D-Backs hitters and the way the Phillies hitters work the count so much the D-Backs rotation will have to throw a lot of pitches and their pitch count will get high early.  Phillies Advance.

So, I'm picking the Philadelphia Phillies to advance to the World Series.  Yea, its a pretty standard pick.  I know.  I just love their rotation so much.  Lee, Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt.  Those 4 right there are all number one starters on other teams.  Its just too much pitching.  Their hitting only has to be decent to advance...let alone if they start rolling.  If they do, look out.

Tigers and the Phillies are up next.

AL Postseason picks!

Tampa Bay Rays Vs. Texas Rangers

In this match-up Texas is the odds on favorite.  I however, am picking the Rays.  Why?  For their pitching and pure resilience.  They had no shot at the postseason at the beginning of the month of September.  Yet, here they are.  I think they take full advantage and knock off the Rangers in an upset series win.

Detroit Tigers Vs. New York Yankees

This is an interesting series.  Both teams have an ace.  Both teams have a powerful offense.  Both teams have a closer that can shut the door.  Keys to this series?  The Suspect Tigers defense and the Yankees bullpen if the starter can't get through 6 innings.  Whoever beats the others ace in game one will win the series in my opinion.  I am, however picking the Tigers to advance.  I think they will steal game 1 on the road and once they get back to Detroit the Yankees power will be neutralized due to the spacious park.  Detroit also has a stellar pen.  I just see them getting by the Yankees thanks to the ability to strike out their power hitters.

In the ALCS I am picking to Detroit to beat the Rays.  Tampa has a really poor batting average this year and I can see Detroit's starting staff take full advantage of that.  Detroit has all the ingredients for a deep post season run and I see them taking the AL pennant this year.

Who will Detroit face in the World Series?  I shall tackle the NL postseason in my next post. Until them, Brohams!

Important

I have a very important issue I must convey to the American people.  This is not a joke, there are people among us just like me.  Who struggle to keep control and keep sane.  Those of us with awful showers.  Now, my shower is so amazing it only seems to have to levels of temperature.  Scalding hot and Freezing Cold.  The best part of all this is how if its hot you can turn the cold ALL THE WAY UP and the temperature stays just as hot.  How this works.....I'll never know.  I hate it though.

That is all.

Btw I found this...its for everyone to view and love!

Hey I didn't forget about you.....I've just been busy

Yes, its been a good long time since I've last posted here and I'm hoping this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between me and you.  There so many topics to discuss its almost overwhelming.  A lot of people make blogs and focus on a specific thing.  Thats good and all....but not ambitious enough for me.  I want to blog EVERYTHING THERE IS TO TALK ABOUT.  Impossible, you say?  Well, of course it is but why am any lower than that?  Why not attempt to cover Sports, Movies, Comics, Video Games, Humans, News?

I SHALL DO IT ALL.

That is all.

My thoughts on the Stanley Cup Final.....

Going into this series between the Bruins and the Canucks I wanted to see Vancouver take the Cup.  As the series has now reached 3 games played I have done an about face.  I no longer want to see the Canucks win the cup and the only real reason is their dirty antics.  I mean first you got Burrows biting someone during a scrum in game 1.  Biting?  Really?  Didn't people stop biting like after 1st grade?  Who does that?  Thats just pathetic sportsmanship.  Then you get Aaron Rome delivering a blindside hit to the head on Nathan Horton.  Headshots are completely uncalled for in any sport.  I believe the Canucks are the more talented of the two teams and therefore It makes NO sense for them to be playing as dirty as they are.  Therefore I now want to see the Bruins take this series and stick it to Vancouver.

Redskins Pick Ryan Kerrigan

This pick, in my opinion, is a sign of the change of times in D.C.  In the past with a 10th overall pick they would of chosen a QB or a flashy Wide Receiver.  Honestly, they need both of those things....but this pick is not a most talented guy around, but he makes up for it in intensity and enthusiasm for the game.  They even traded down from the 10th to 16th and acquired a second pick from Miami in the process.  That I like.  He will instantly make their defense better.  How you ask?  Teams can no longer double team Brian Orakpo.  They have two talented pass rushers and I really hope they decide to send either Orakpo or Kerrigan after the QB on EVERY down while the other goes into coverage.  Trick up the offensive line.  Who are you going to try to double team now?

Bottom Line:  The Skins Defense just got a whole lot better and more suited for a 3-4 even though there are concerns about Kerrigan not being "big enough" for the position.  I personally doubt it'll be a problem.  He won't be a bust, but he also might not be a superstar.  I can live with just consistency.

Fun Side Note:  He is the Big Tens All Time leader in Forced Fumbles.  His Career total of 14 puts him in a 4 way tie for the most in FBS history.

My new (costly) obsession.

I am now quite obsessed with signed baseballs and other various Major League Baseball memorabilia.   This stuff is quite expensive.  I currently own just one signed baseball.  It was signed by Justin Morneau, first baseman of the Minnesota Twins and somewhere my dad has a Ticket signed by Torii Hunter, Former Twin; Current Angel.

I've always been enamored with baseball autographs and if I was a millionaire or even a baseball player (aka still a millionaire) I'd have tons of them.  Signed Jerseys, Bats, Baseballs, Hats.  You name it.  Right now the only thing I can afford is signed baseballs and even some of them are expensive.  During me and my Dad's latest trip to Baltimore on Thursday night as we were leaving I decided to stop by the stand set up selling all the autographed things.  I figured it would just be all current and former Orioles signatures.  As I started to look through them I realized it was autographs from players all over Baseball history.  I saw a Ted Williams ball (super expensive) along with a Hank Aaron Ball (also pretty pricey).  I ended up buying a ball signed by Harmon Killebrew with the number of career homeruns he hit.  I gave it to my dad and I also ordered him a signed Duke Snider ball I found from the same people.  I'm giving him the Duke Snider ball for Father's day.  Snider was he favorite ball player when growing up.

I'd love to get some more signatures as time goes on.  Maybe some more current players.  I'd like to get a Mauer ball for sure.  Probably a Thome one too.

Maybe I'll win the lottery soon and be able to buy all the stupid baseball stuff I want......

Bartolo Colon...the Epitome of an Athlete

Look at this Guy.  He is a large pitcher.  Very Large.  Some could say so is C.C. Sabathia, however the two don't quite compare in size.

I mean take a look at the two:

bartolo colon1.JPG

cc1.jpg

Colon just looks really fat.  Hes got the double chin going on and hes made more money already than I will in my entire lifetime.  Great.  I mean thats all I really have to say about the matter.  I wish him the best of luck but I honestly don't see him making the Yankees rotation.  Someone will more than likely pick him up if he opts out from his Yanks contract.  I'm thinking the Cardinals might be interested.  That of course is PURE speculation on my part however.

Tuesday Night

So, Tuesday Night.  Interesting night to say the least.  Quick set-up.  Dinner at fridays then Bowling.  Bowling and Dinner were good.  However, the real story of the night was my friend managing to get drunk and wonder off into the night.  I was very unsure as to how he managed to get across the street and end up behind Wal-Mart Beside the Target.  I pondered this for many a minutes.  How was this possible?  Then I knew.

Sexy Toast Man.
This mythical creature has long been rumored to appear to drunks in need.....its never been verified; Because in all honesty who believes what crazy crap a drunk has to say?  I'm absolutely certain that this urban legend is indeed true.  It more than likely guided him across the frozen asphalt field and held his hand as they moved through the Target forest.  Why he ended up leaving him beside Target I'll never know.  The only thing I can guess is that Sexy Toast Man happened to see a duck (which just so happens to be his mortal enemy).  This would explain my friend being left by the Target and not being taken back to the Toast lair.

The old wives tale goes like this:  Whenever and Wherever there is a drunk in need Sexy Toast Man will appear and take them to his lair.  Everyone knows that once there he treats them to Beer and Toast because they are the only things that will prevent/cure a hangover.

So next time you see a drunk in need lookout for his Toast-Mobile and follow him so we can ascertain the location of his secret Toast Lair!

Morneau Returns

I was pleasantly surprised the other day to log onto mlb.com and see that Morneau had actually played in a game again, let alone hitting a 3-run double.  I had been hoping he would return all last season, but eventually it came to be that he was not coming back.

I believe Morneau is a big question mark on the Twins for many people around the game.  They wonder just how well he will perform along with Post-Tommy John Joe Nathan.  I personally believe the Twins would have advanced past the first round of the playoffs had Morneau been healthy and still in the line-up.  He was on pace for an absolutely fantastic season.  He played in exactly half of Minnesota's games in 2010 before going down with a concussion.  Its not an exact science by any means but if you assume he continued his pace (pure speculation, I know) he would have ended the season with 36 HRs and 112 RBIs.  Thats pretty darn good.  It would have given them some of the extra punch and Calm Leadership in the line-up they missed down the stretch and in the postseason last year.

I'm just happy to see that he is finally resuming baseball activities and hope this is just a slight hiccup for Justin.  Morneau's situation with his concussion seems to be repeating itself in hockey with the situation regarding Crosby, and thus I learned due to Morneau that Crosby isn't coming back either.

Heres hoping another symptom free game for Justin on Friday.
